At the end of  2006 Romsys, acting as a prime contractor, architect   and systms integrator  has delivered for Mechel Târgovişte, the steel manufacturer a complex turn key project consisting in the development of the information technoly and communications network.

The implementation of this complex project is part of Mechel Targoviste modernization program (the former Special Steel Plant) after its privatization in 2002.The technical solution Romsys has implemented at Mechel Târgovişte optimizes the work processes, increases the  operational efficiency and reduces communications cost. Through the implementation of this solution important cost reductions, time and resources has been achieved.

Based on an innovative solution, the system  includes the latest high end technologies and equipments, delivered by worldwide leaders such as: Cisco, Nexans, Corning and HP.

Mr. Gutu Roman, IT Director within Mechel Targovişte stated: “The IT infrastructure is important for our growth process. It was mandatory to modernize the information technology and communications network for both cost reduction and flexibility in administration, needed to improve our activity. Romsys proved a good understanding of our requirements and presented us with a complex solution which uniquely integrated in the actual network. This network has been designed for our future evolutions as well.

In the new architecture, the network connects 18 locations within Mechel Targoviste with 400 working stations in a configuration that includes fiber optic backbone for 100 of them.  Gigabit links connect the posts to the two main computers. The project implementation has lasted five months and needed an activity for over 500 man / day. The tests have lasted two months, the system being available at the end of February 2007.

A particular challenge of the  project is the necessity to integrate   the new system with the existing communications solution in use.

We have chosen Romsys for its proven expertise in the field of industrial communications networking and for its experience in working with major companies in Romania, mentioned Mr. Roman.

The network designed is multiobjective  – actually being used as network but nevertheless it is flexible enough in order to turn into support for video signals of cameras that supervise manufacturing processes and for data transfer from automatization equipments. Even more, the network architecture allows its use for other value added applications – WAN connection, NAC, VoIP, videoconference, SCADA and so forth.

Within this project, the main challenge for Romsys team was the high level of redundance nedeed. The implemented system ensures the flexibility on  several levels. Thus, various equipments and technical solutions, both hardware and software allow a 24/7 transfer service, independent of  individual equipments damages.

The successfull solution  implementation at Mechel Targoviste proves our long term commitment regarding information infrastructure development for companies in Romania. We can use the knowledge and expertise gained during the successful implementation of more than 40 infrastructure complex projects realized for customers in country and abroad, contributing to the enhancement of  services offered to their clients and the growth of their competitivity on a raising market.” stated Mr. Florian Semen, General Manager, Romsys.

Romsys gained a unique experience in Romania in industrial networking and communications sector due to projects implemented for international well-known companies such as: Renault Dacia and Mittal Steel Galati.
For Mittal Steel Galati, the giant of metallurgic industry, Romsys realized the modernization and extension fiber optic network for voice-data communications.

The network integrates all the existing communication infrastructures and ensures the data conectivity of all Mittal Steel economic subunits. The designed communication system assures physical and logical redundancy for all main Backbone connections, a high level of protection assured against mechanical, chemical and thermal stress for all pathways inside industrial zones.

At the level of the entire Dacia – Mioveni campus, Romsys designed, developed and implemented the complex information system consisting of networking and communication solutions such as: Fiber Optic, Voice-Data Structured Cabling in Mioveni Campus and Administration Buildings.

The Special Steel Plant Targoviste (COST) was named Mechel Targoviste after the main shareholder, the Russian group Mechel. The manufacturer of rolled goods, steel and wire was privatised in 2003 and it was taken over by Conares Trading Suisse company which took over the plant in Targoviste as well in August 2002. In 2003, Conares became the operator of the Russian metallurgic gruop Mechel for the activity abroad Switzerland.
