Romsys is teaming with SAMB, SMURD and the Ministry of Health in order to optimize patients’ flows in hospitals

The monitoring application of the number of available beds in hospitals was developed and implemented by Romsys in record time, as an extension of the call center and real time DISPEC monitoring information system, implemented by the company in 1996 for the emergency medical services in Bucharest.

Romsys successfully implemented the system that monitors the available beds in hospitals, system that is used at a city level by Bucharest.

"We are currently extending the monitoring system at national level including the emergency hospitals in every county and the number of active hospitals in the system exceeds 110. For this expansion phase of the project we considered improving the experience of application use and increasing transparency with easy access to information for all users." stated Horatiu BERDILA, Romsys CEO.

The application developed by Romsys provides the coordinating personnel in SAMB, SMURD and the Ministry of Health as well as the hospitals and call centers with real-time access to information regarding the available beds in hospitals, separated on sections.

There are three administration entities for the system developed by Romsys: the emergency medical service of the city of Bucharest (SAMB), the emergency medical service for reanimation and accident intervention (SMURD) and the Ministry of Health,  each having more defined users who monitor and maintain the system for proper function. The dispatch works under the coordination of the Operation Committee for emergency systems inside the Ministry of Health.

For each institution (SAMB, SMURD, MS, hospitals) more users with distinct passwords and specific user profile rights are defined. All users, the administrators and ordinary users alike will dispose of a browser to accomplish the specific activities.

The application provided for the registration of available beds is accessed on internet by hospitals. Each hospital periodically fill in the number of beds available in each section. The information are registered within a database. The users with a coordinating profile from SAMB, SMURD and Ministry of Health visualize the number of beds in each hospital and section.

Information update in the main view page is automatically generated while data are modified in the system by hospital operators. According to the information displayed on screen, the coordinating personnel from SAMB and SMURD will guide the unit carrying the patient towards the right hospital.

“The information supplied by the system are extremely useful for the efficient guidance of our field teams undertaking various emergencies and decisively contribute  to the optimization of emergency medical services due to the optimal administration of resources.” stated Alis GRASU, SAMB Manager.

During the 16 years of activity, Romsys developed and successfully implemented innovative information solutions aimed towards the improvement of various activities and towards the growth of the service quality offered to patients in Romania.

Among these projects there is also the integrated information system for the surveillance of the tuberculosis epidemiology in Romania and the integrated information system for strengthening the Romanian blood transfusion process, in order to be comlpliant with EU regulations regarding the standards of quality and security for the collection, processing, stocking and distribution of human blood and also blood components.
