The European Commission Recognizes Romsys as an Expert for Innovative eHealth Solutions - 28 November 2005

Romsys received from the European Commission the status of a "Recognised eHealth Reference Site Across Europe", that certifies the quality of Romsys experts involved in the implementation of eHealth management solutions.

Romsys received from the European Commission the status of a "Recognised eHealth Reference Site Across Europe", that certifies the quality of Romsys experts involved in the implementation of eHealth management solutions.

The Information Society and Media Directorate-General of the European Commission initiated the European wide study "eHealth Impact" to evaluate the medical and economic performances of most successful eHealth applications in order to determine best practice solutions. These examples will be made public in order to stimulate the development and implementation of future eHealth solutions, which will learn from the best players across Europe (http://www.ehealth-impact.org).

The EMPIRICA Institute for Communications and Technology Research Ltd., Bonn, Germany, an independent research organization, has assembled a multi-national team to complete the work. The team is guided by an Advisory Board comprised of members with international recognition on eHealth. They have selected BEMSSy (Bucharest Emergency Medical Services System), Romsys solution implemented on Bucharest Emergency Ambulance Centre and other six different districts, among the best top 10 eHealth solutions to be presented to the European public.

"Each programme evaluation includes the impact of eHealth on patients, society, healthcare professionals and researchers in areas such as access, benefits/quality, productivity and costs. Analyzing the BEMSSy solution from all these points of view, we've found that Romsys is a most competent supplier of innovative and successful eHealth solutions. We count on companies such as Romsys in our initiative to provide better medical care to the people by making best use of information and communication technologies", said Dr. Wendelin Schramm, member of the eHealth Impact Project Team.

BEMSSy system was implemented by Romsys on the emergency ambulance centre from Bucharest and other six Romanian districts: Cluj, Constanţa, Dolj, Iaşi, Mureş, Timiş.

BEMSSy system is a computer aided dispatch designed for taking and solving calls quickly and accuratelyIt assure real time data about the medical resources available in the emergency ambulance centres, such as medical team and operational personal. In the same time the system allows the prioritizing of the calls by the grade of emergency determined by the presumptive diagnosis, and age.

The system operates in real time, is modular, on-line configurable, is provided with a sensitive tracing device and  tolerant (hardware and software) system, designed to operate "24 hours a day".secure, fault

"The concordance between the presumptive and the real diagnosis has increased from 25% to 82%, and the response time for every call has decreased from 72 to 19 minutes", said Aneta Rapanu, IT Manager, Bucharest Emergency Ambulance Centre.

Data collected by the system offers an excellent decisional base for the improvement of the medical service quality, minimising expenses and efficient coordination of the entire activity of the ambulance centre.
